Pottawattamie County – Pottawattamie County Public Health, in partnership with InfoSafe Shredding, invites families to a back-to-school open house and immunization clinic on Saturday, August 23, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Pottawattamie County Recycling Center, located at 41911 Industrial Drive, Oakland, IA 51560.
This event provides an opportunity for school-age children to receive required immunizations in preparation for the upcoming school year. In addition to health services, attendees can explore the Pottawattamie County Recycling Center and learn how it supports environmental sustainability across the county.
“We’re committed to making public health services more accessible for all residents,” said Maria Sieck, Public Health Administrator. “This event helps families get ready for school while learning more about the county programs that serve them year-round.”
Guests can meet with Public Health staff, ask questions about local services, utilize Infosafe Shredding’s services, and see how the recycling center contributes to a cleaner, greener future.
Immunizations are provided through the Vaccines for Children (VFC) program to children ages 0–18 who meet eligibility requirements, including being under-insured, un-insured, enrolled in Medicaid, or identifying as Alaska Native or American Indian.
The event is free and open to the public, and no appointment is required for immunizations.
