Preparing for the Solar Eclipse

April 4, 2024 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

4-4-april-solar-eclipse

On Monday, April 8, a total solar eclipse will be able to be seen across the US from
Texas to Maine. Even though Council Bluffs is not in the direct path, we will still be
able to see a partial eclipse.
The Council Bluffs Public Library will be hosting an educational awareness event four
days prior, on Thursday, April 4, at 6:30 p.m. NASA Partner Eclipse Ambassadors
Mike Modrcin and Leonard Meredith with the Omaha Astronomical Society will
discuss the science of eclipses in preparation for the last total solar eclipse visible
from North America for the next 23 years. Their goal is to help us safely prepare for
the April 8 solar eclipse . From Iowa, we should have an 80% eclipse viewing, so we
will need to protect our eyes. Glasses will be distributed to all in attendance.
This program is free and open to the public. For more information, visit our website
