OH, FUDGE! A CHRISTMAS CLASSIC COMES
TO THE HOFF CENTER
Chanticleer Children’s Theater production of A Christmas Story, The Musical
COUNCIL BLUFFS, IA (December 1, 2023) – PACE and Chanticleer Theater are excited to bring you a Christmas classic to the Hoff Center this month with the production of A Christmas Story, the Musical presented by Sherryl G. Bills-Taylor.
This classic story comes to life on stage as we follow nine-year-old Ralphie Parker who wants one thing for Christmas, and one thing only: An Official Red Ryder Range Model Carbine Action BB Gun. There is only one problem: everyone else is convinced he’ll shoot his eye out! Undeterred, he begins his saga of convincing all the necessary players, from his sweet but protective mother all the way to the big man himself, Santa Claus. Filled with quirky and lovable characters, this zany, heartfelt, and nostalgic musical is as delightful as the biggest, shiniest present under the tree on Christmas morning.
“When most of us think of this classic comedy, we think of the movie with its iconic characters and one-liners that stand the test of time. What we do not often think of is its messaging. Thus came the challenge of this production: a) It is a fun, campy, musical, b) while still addressing the undertone topics with that comedy, and c) providing you, the viewers, with the nostalgia the holiday times provide,” states Lara Marsh, Director of the production.
Whether you are a fan of the original movie or simply looking for a family-friendly outing, this production is sure to delight. Opening night is December 7 and runs through December 17, with showtimes on Thursdays through Saturdays at 7:30PM, as well as matinees on Sundays at 2PM. There are plenty of opportunities to catch this entertaining show, but seats are filling up fast. Get your tickets today online at PACEArtsIowa.org, over the phone at 712.890.5601, or in person at the box office!
